Bausch & Lomb

Bausch & Lomb®, a world leader in eye care products including contact lenses, ocular pharmaceuticals and surgical implants, was founded in 1853 in Rochester, New York, USA. It is famous for its creation of the Ray-Ban brand of sunglasses and for being the first major manufacturer to launch soft contact lenses as early as in 1971.

The company has gone through many changes over the years. It sold off its Ray-Ban brand of sunglasses in 1999 to the Italian Luxottica Group. Bausch & Lomb was recently sold to Valeant Pharmaceuticals in 2013 and is now headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey employing 13,000 people in 36 countries. The contact lens products currently offered by Bausch & Lomb include those for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. The company continues to field new and innovative products relating to ocular health and has also launched contact lens products in the one day, two-week and monthly modalities. Bausch & Lomb is considered one of the four major and leading manufacturers of ocular health and prescription correction products worldwide.
